Openbravo includes the full suite of functionality available of extended ERPs: procurement, warehouse management, project management, service management manufacturing, sales, economic and financial management as well as basic CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and BI (Business Intelligence).

ERP systems are known for being highly complex to set up. Openbravo's goal of becoming the enterprise management solution of choice for small to medium size businesses means that it has to make the implementation and adaptation process easier and less intimidating than it is for traditional ERP solutions. As an open source solution, Openbravo runs on top of several other pieces of freely available open source software, and due to the web-based nature you only need a web browser installed. While this is a big advantage for those that choose to put Openbravo into production in their environment, setting everything up manually just for evaluation purposes would be time-consuming and require technical expertise. Asking users to configure all of the disparate pieces to work together themselves would not lead to a fast, user-friendly evaluation process.

BitRock Solution: |
BitRock developed a Windows installer for Openbravo that offers users the flexibility of using software already installed on their system, while still providing a fast, user-friendly installation and configuration process. The installer allows users to choose between hooking up to an existing PostgreSQL or Oracle 10g database and then automatically connects Openbravo to the chosen database and the existing Tomcat installation. The BitRock installer for Openbravo allows new users to get started with a complete ERP system in minutes - a near-impossible proposition with other ERP solutions.
